Hello again

Well I haven't been able to run lately because of some very painful back pain. I went to the chiropractor today and so far I feel better. They did some muscle stimulation and an adjustment. We will see how I wake up in the morning. I really can't wait to get back running and biking because I need to start losing all this way I put back on. So we will see how that goes

Day 1 version 2.0

So let's see if we can start getting this weight loss thing back on track again. I have unfortunately been rather lazy the last couple of months I can make excuses all day ( too cold, back pain).  However, it was just being lazy. I have slacked off so much that I got myself back up to 280 lbs. I had been down to 250 pounds from original starting weight of 320 pounds, but I let the winter months get to me. So here I am starting again. I got up this morning at 2:30 stretched and then hit the road. I did 3.47 miles in 43:13 and burned 687 calories. So it is a little slower than my normal pace, but I will build it back up. I have to pay a lot more attention to what I'm eating again,  I'm straying away from my paleo choices. I am glad that fresh fruits are coming back into the stores it is a great time to get berries super cheap and freeze them for later. Also, The Gilcrease Orchard will be opening soon and I will be able to pick locally grown fresh vegetables and fruit with the family. My son loves to go and help pick fresh vegetables from the gardens.

We also added some new friends to the house, 2 Glofish danios named icky & stinky. My son was rewarded for doing well at school by his grandma.

I also received a gift from my friend of some classic game consoles. Hopefully soon I will be able to get them to work.

Have a good day all, I have plants that need tending to.

New week.

It's time now to get back on the horse and start to drop that weight I gained over winter.  I have to refocus on my paleo food choices. It can be difficult at times, but I have bought a bunch of fruit and veg for meals, so I just have to watch the snacking when I get home after work.

We got a new dog from a rescue. She is a pit with a very sweet disposition. We are going to foster her for a month to see if she fits with our family, still not sure yet if we're going to keep her she's a little rambunctious at times and a little to bitey at the hands and feet. The rest of the time she just lays on the ground or couch or bed wanting to be loved on. She is just going to require some training.

Things are starting to ramp up at work getting ready for spring starting. So I have a lot more plants, flowers, trees and assorted things to worry about now, especially since we have corporate coming this week making sure things are all neat and tidy.

Should be a good week we will see how it goes.

Well now!

Ok, today's been a pretty good day so far. I did not go running like I had originally  planned in my head to do, instead I slept in. Thanks to my wife, who got up with my son at 4 this morning.   We went grocery shopping, I stayed home and watched the dog and Dark Shadows while Des and Jaxen went to church.  Then we went to some friends house across town for dinner. After that got some very interesting news, there will be more on that later. All in all not a bad day, about time to turn in.  Super Bowl party tomorrow at my wife's boss house, should be a lot of fun.

Going to have to get back on the paleo horse starting Monday and back to running 3 to 5 days a week so I can lose the weight I gained over winter.  I would like to lose another 40 to 50 pounds this year, I also have a triathlon to start training for in April.

Good night all.

Day 1-Beginings

First day of blog. I am basically writing this as a way to keep myself in check and stay on track with my goals.  I really should have started this last year at this time as I had started on a change in lifestyle.  I started to workout, run and diet to lose weight. I started off slow and worked into it so that I would not just burnout. I was mainly running in the morning before work and then during lunch.

I, like most people have struggled with weight my entire life, always trying something different or pills that I knew would not work, so I started reading any information I could on the different diets . I finally came upon the Paleo/Caveman diet, I liked what I read, it made sense to me, it was not a magic elixir or pill, it was actually pretty basic so I switched over to a Paleo diet, which for those that don't know is a complete lifestyle change, it is a very natural way to eat, it is how we ate before we started over processing everything  it is a diet consisting of any kind of animal protein/fat, eggs, vegetables, fruit and true nuts. So that means no dairy, legumes (i.e. beans, peanuts, soy.)  no grains of any kind (i.e. wheat, corn, rice.).  Nothing that comes in a box or through a drive-thru. Only fresh foods, best if locally sourced, organic if possible and as minimally processed as possible. There are a lot of reasons to switch to a diet like this, mine was to lose weight and to get healthy. There is actually a few really good books on the subject the first being
The Paleo Diet: Lose Weight and Get Healthy by Eating the Foods You Were Designed to Eat by Loren Cordain
and
The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet by Robb Wolf
both breakdown the reasons why you would want to make the switch and how you go about it, as well as some of the science behind what we are eating. There are also a lot of good cookbooks out there that can help you transition.

Anyway, I started and I started feeling better almost immediately I stuck to it about 80% of the time which is what is recommended it is pretty difficult if you have little to no will power with food like I do,  I mean I have been a cook most of my life I Love Food. However, I needed to change (insert  insanity quote) so I did.

I ended up losing 70 lbs altogether which is huge.  It took all year but was worth it. It set a goal of running a full marathon and I did that back in Dec..  Now I just have to keep at it.
